Therapist in Vermont (ACT Therapy)
If you’re looking for a therapist in Vermont, you may already feel stuck or caught in patterns of anxiety, overthinking, low mood, or a sense that life isn’t moving in the direction you want.
I offer Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for adults and adolescents across Vermont, both in-person in Stowe and online.
The goal is simple: to help you build a more flexible, meaningful life. Not by eliminating difficult thoughts and feelings, but by changing how you relate to them so that they don’t control your actions.
If you’re considering therapy but aren’t sure where to start, you can book a free consultation. We’ll talk through what’s going on and see if this feels like a good fit. No pressure to commit.

ACT Therapy in Vermont: A Different Approach
Many approaches to therapy focus on reducing symptoms. The goal is less anxiety, fewer negative thoughts, more control.
ACT takes a different angle. Instead of trying to “fix” your internal experience, we focus on:
-
Developing psychological flexibility.
-
Making space for difficult thoughts and emotions.
-
Taking meaningful action based on your values.
If you’d like a deeper explanation of how this works, you can explore these ACT resources and tools, where I break down the core ideas in a simple and practical way.
What I Help With
I work with clients across Vermont dealing with:
-
Anxiety and chronic worry.
-
Depression and low motivation.
-
Stress and burnout.
-
Trauma and difficult life experiences.
-
Lack of direction or feeling stuck.
If this sounds like the kind of support you’ve been looking for, you can book a free consultation below.
How ACT Therapy Works
ACT is a practical, evidence-based approach that helps you build new ways of responding to your inner experience.
In our work together, we’ll typically focus on:
1. Understanding what’s keeping you stuck
We look at the patterns (thoughts, behaviors, and habits) that may be limiting your life.
2. Changing your relationship with thoughts and emotions
Rather than fighting or avoiding difficult experiences, you’ll learn how to relate to them differently so they have less control over your actions.
For example, you might explore ideas like mindfulness or cognitive defusion. If you’re curious, this article on what ACT is is a good starting point.
3. Moving toward what matters
We clarify your values and take concrete steps toward building a life that feels meaningful to you.
In-Person and Online Therapy in Vermont
I offer therapy in two formats:
-
In-person therapy in Stowe, Vermont
-
Online therapy across Vermont
Online sessions allow you to access therapy from anywhere in the state, with the same structure and effectiveness as in-person work.
If you’d like to get a sense of how I think about therapy and mental health, you can also browse my ACT blog, where I share insights, exercises, and reflections based on ACT.
About Me
I’m a licensed clinical mental health counselor working with adolescents and adults.
My work is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with the aim of helping you live a rich, full, meaningful life based on your values. Rather than focusing on what’s wrong with you, we focus on where you want to go and what’s getting in the way.
I began my career in a large community health setting and now work in private practice. I’m also an adjunct instructor of psychology at Vermont State University and an ACT trainer.
